ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The author is a 6th Dan black belt shihan (master) in Kyokushin Karate from the IFK (Fédération Internationale by Karate Kyokushinkai), art which he has been practicing since 1971. Towards the end of the eighties, he integrated a base of verbal self-defense into his physical self-defense seminars. Then came the idea of creating a self-defense course that would focus solely on the psychological, emotional and verbal aspects of conflict, unlike classical martial arts which teach responding to purely physical threats.
GAËTAN SAUVÉ BIOGRAPHY
Shihan Gaëtan Sauvé, 5th Dan in Karate Kyokushinkai. Gaëtan has been practicing Karate since 1971 . He was the student of Soshu Shigeru Oyama 10th dan, for more than ten years. He joined the International Karate Federation (IFK) in 1994. Hanshi Steve Arneil 10th dan is the international president. He still continues to teach Kyokushin Karate today.
COMPETITION:
He took part in a dozen Knockdown competitions. He represented Canada at the second world championship in Japan in 1979 . He won Canadian titles in 1984, 1985 and 1986 . He was the first Canadian to win the North American Knockdown Champion title in New York, United States on October 13, 1985.

1986 Champion of the 5th Canadian Full Contact Karate Championship in Laval, Quebec.
ARBITRATION:
He was appointed world referee by Hanshi Steve Arneil during an internship in Russia. Shihan Gaëtan refereed the IFK Knockdown World Championship which took place in Moscow, Russia in 1997.
Since 1987 National Arbitrator full contact karate competitions;
Since 1995 World referee;
1997 1st championship referee Kyokushin Karate IFK World Championship in Moscow, Russia;
1998 Selected as referee of the second IFK Kyokushin Karate World Championship.
COACHING:
He has coached at several international championships and his students have won more than fifty championships.
Shihan Michael Monaco, President of Kyokushin IFK in the United States, said of Gaëtan Sauvé: “Shihan Gaëtan is the only one I know who fought in all three weight categories (light-medium-heavy) in KnockDown combat and to have fought in Japan when there was no weight class. "
Author and personal studies
Gaëtan Sauvé is also a writer , he wrote two books on psychoverbal self-defense. At the same time, he studied several psychological approaches (transpersonal, Jungian, transactional analysis, psychosynthesis ...), Zen meditation, rebirth, psycho cybernetics, general semantics, Ericksonian hypnosis, homeopathy, energetics. Chinese, naturology and various methods of expanding consciousness. He taught Tai chi for over ten years.
Gaëtan Sauvé is a Master Practitioner in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) at the Quebec NLP Center (3-year study completed in 1996). He brings together all his knowledge on psychology , beliefs , communication and values and he has done intensive research for more than 20 years to develop and form the bases of the first psychological and verbal martial art: Aiki-psychoverbal .
